Merchant Navy 35018 British India Line made her debut run over the Settle and Carlisle line with a northbound run on 20th April 2018, as part of day two on Great Britain XI.
Ian Riley's Black Five 45407 hauled the first Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express on the 24th January 2015. Originally due to be double headed with Jubilee Leander, the locomotive failed its Fitness To Run exam and left the 5MT to run alone with a Class 47 on the back for company.
Steam over the Northern Fells
The Settle & Carlisle line was nearly lost in the 80s, but is now vibrant with steam running over the route on a highly regular basis, and a trust supporting the line and restoring stations to former glory.
