Running until Sunday 21st October 2018 also visiting are GWR 2-8-0s 2857 and tank variety 4270, while BR Standard 4MT 80097 makes he long awaited debut in steam (running within Bury station limits). Opening with footage of 2018 returnee J27 65894 on the early morning Matt Fisher/NYMR Photo Charter with the lines impressive freight set, which included on wagon Talyllyn Railway Number 6 0-4-0WT Douglas sporting her RAF 100 blue livery.
The visit of Douglas was to celebrate RAF 100, with SR 4-6-2 Battle of Britain class locomotive 34081 92 Squadron (The Battle of Britain Locomotive Society /Nene Valley Railway) also fitting this theme. Centurion GWR 2-8-0 2857 visited for the Severn Valley Railway and we see this in a couple of shots between Grosmont and Goathland.
Southern Railway V Schools 4-4-0 class 926 Repton ran during the weekend without smoke deflectors and we see her on the lines goods set at Beck Hole. The J27 is parted with her NELPG stable mate Q6 63395 at Water Ark, before we see some further footage of her on the freight train. Standard 4mt 80136 is currently facing north and seen arriving into Goathland.
Unfortunately on a couple of shots there have been some audio problems but I have included these at the end because visually they still paint a picture, these were 92 Squadron on the teaks and 926 Repton on a freight.

50 Years Ago Today... 11th August 1968... The End of British Railways Steam. While timetabled steam ended a week earlier, 11th August 1968 saw British Railways operate a final railtour to commemorate the end of steam.
Running from Liverpool to Carlisle both ways over the Settle and Carlisle line, the train was hauled by Black Fives 45110 (Liverpool - Manchester), 44871 and 44781 (Carlisle - Manchester) and 70013 Oliver Cromwell (Manchester - Carlisle).
50 years on and steam is going strong once again, main line commemoration events have been affected by the recent hot weather meaning three trains going over the S&C today all are requiring a diesel behind the steam locomotive for assistance. Oliver Cromwell's main line ticket expired earlier in the year but is spending the day operating on the Great Central Railway.
