The Autumn Steam Gala at Llangollen saw the first of a new feature at Llangollen's steam galas, in the form of the opportunity of riding the goods. My trip behind Foxcote Manor up Berwyn Bank and through the tunnel in an open veranda of a Toad brake van behind the locomotive is one I will never forget.
5643 had just entered service at being restored by the Furness Railways Trust at Haverthwaite, and was on light duties during the gala as part of its running in. Scroll through the gallery below, by clicking on an image. |
